The Powder

Powder Coating, often called “dry” painting, is an advanced method of applying a decorative and protective finish to a wide range of materials and products that are used by both industries and consumers. It is an environmentally friendly process which offers finishes in a wide variety of styles and colors. Recent advancements in powder coating technology have made it available for use on a vast range of products.

The powder used for the process is a mixture of finely ground particles of pigment and resin, which is sprayed onto a surface to be coated. The charged powder particles adhere to the electrically grounded surfaces until heated and fused into a smooth coating in a curing oven. The result is a uniform, durable, high-quality, and attractive finish. Powder coating is the fastest-growing finishing technology in North America, representing over 10% of all industrial finishing applications. Let us give your equipment/product a long-lasting and durable finish today.

How powder coating works

Powder coating is a fascinating, and in many ways superior, alternative to conventional painting. Instead of using the application of liquid paint to an item to provide color, dry powder is sprayed onto the item and melted down to produce a seamless and durable shell. Powder coating uses several scientific applications in order to produce a long lasting color coat that has many advantages over a layer of paint.
The basics of powder coating are actually pretty simple:
- Powder coating relies on the scientific principle that items of opposite charges will be attracted to one another.
- It can be applied to any item that is capable of carrying a charge, and is most frequently used on metals.
- The powder is given one charge while the object that is being coated will be given the opposite charge.
